Bit of a Boots haul type thing…
So (really need to stop starting my blogs with the word ‘so’) after having a purse clear out, I found a stack of vouchers and discount receipts for Boots so after pay day I thought I’d head into the big Boots in town (rather than the one I work in as it’s a bit smaller) and have a mooch and try and get through my vouchers… was pleasantly surprised with the total it came to at the till when stocking up my bathroom and make up cabinet!
After a disaster a few weeks ago where my OPI nail envy randomly exploded in my make up bag, I kinda begrudged paying another fortune for a new one but knowing I had some vouchers and knowing that I’d be happy that I made the purchase after, it did sneakily appear in my basket… (boy I’m glad I did, this stuff is amazing even after a few days… blog will be up in the near future!)
I tried the Seventeen Miracle Matte primer a while ago and it changed my life (quite literally!). I have really oily skin and it’s a nightmare so I brought this thinking that it wouldn’t do much as it was so cheap.. well, this is the 3rd time I’ve repurchased it and as it was on BOGSHP (buy one get second half price), I picked up the Seventeen Stay 18 hours Concealer. I’ve ran out of my Mac concealer that I brought in LA and struggle to find here so thought I’d give it ago before spending a bomb on ordering and P&P from America – I’m actually really surprised, really impressed! It’s obviously not as good as Mac but it’s safe to say that it’ll save me a good £40 every 6 months!
With my £3 off No7 Cosmetics voucher, I chose the Gel Look shine in Midnight somethingorother – I love the Gel Look Shine nail colours from No7 at the minute and I think this is the 6th that I’ve brought in the last 3 months. No7 also had a BOGSHP voucher so picked up the Stay Perfect Shade and Define eye shadow stick that everyone seems to be raving about to see what the fuss is about. I’ve only used it once but the colour is really nice, subtle but enough to do a Smokey eye with!
Anyone know knows me, knows that I am soooo fussy with what I use on my hair and I’m really protective over it (I normally cry when I have it cut)!! I’m not overly fussed about Shampoo but I have a certain conditioner and treatment that I use EVERY time I wash my hair.. The treatment is always the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. They’ve discontinued the treatment so I normally try and stock up if I see it but this time there was only one there L I’ve used this treatment for over 18 months and I just love it, I love the smell and the way it leaves my hair feeling so I’ll be gutted when they take it off the shelves altogether.
I recently saw someone else blog about the Garnier Ultimate Blends treatment so I did pick up one while they were half price. I picked up the “Glow replenisher” to help the extra shine and it is actually really good, not as good as H.E but it did leave my hair feel really soft and easier to detangle after washing.
I’ve been meaning to pick up a colour for my hair for a good few weeks as my blonde is coming back through (was blonde for a couple of years until May) and desperately needed to de-patch. I normally use the John Frieda ones as they always seem to be on offer, particularly in Tesco. I couldn’t find anywhere that had them on offer so kept putting it off until I went into Boots and they were finally half price! I’ve never used the colour before so wasn’t sure how it would turn out but fancied a dark purple colour so chose “Dark Cherry”. It’s has more reddy tones in it than I wanted so I’m tempted to pick up a dark brown one before the offer finishes!
I didn’t think that I could get away with filling a whole basket for me without buying anything for the fellar so I picked up a few bits that he said he was running out of. One of the vouchers I had was £2 off Men’s Ted Baker – I was really chuffed with this voucher as I know they’re not too expensive anyway but when I walked over to see they were 2 for £5 anyway, I was one happy lady (I’m already sure he thinks I’m a cheapskate so here’s hoping he doesn’t read this ;)). So after the offer, voucher and staff discount, I got a Ted Baker body spray and a Ted Baker body was for about £2.20!
With the other half of my No7 discount voucher, I used the £5 off Skincare on a After Shave balm for him as he has been talking about getting something for post-shave for ages so thought he could give this ago.
He also got his usual Lynx Africa and hair wax/gum stuff which he uses daily so that’ll keep him going for a while.
Like my hair, I’m also really fussy on what toothpaste I use. I’ve used the Oral B Super White one for about 18 months and the difference it has made is unbelieveable. They’ve recently released a new range and while it was on 3 for 2, I picked up 3 of the new Oral B Glam Shine ones.
One of my final vouchers was another £5 off Skincare vouchers so I picked up some No7 make up remover wipes – they’re not my favourite but with the voucher and staff discount they come out as like 41p so I’m not overly picky, they do the job.
Finally, the last think I picked up was a wim at the till and was a Hair magazine… I’m desperately bored with my hair, it’s getting really long and because it’s so think, I barely make the time to do anything properly with it… here’s hoping for some inspiration!
In total after vouchers, offers and discount, it came to around £70 which I think is amazing considering the OPI alone was £18! Ooooh I love my job.
So there’s a loooot there, think it’s the longest blog post I’ve ever written but I clearly have far too much time on my hands! But I guess this is an insight to what’s in my make up/bathroom storage (thinking of doing a blog post about make up collection but it may get lost amongst the other 198734872634 out there).
Oh and if anyone knows of any really good hair treatments (under the £10 price range), please please pleaaaase let me know!
