Weather Proofing Make Up Tips

"Is that it? Is Summer over?" is a question I've been asking myself every other day lately with the weather being so up and down and so unpredictable - I never know how the weather is going to turn out so my make up has been something I've genuinely had to consider how I'm doing my make up each morning. Especially since starting (yet another) new job - blog post coming soon - I've had to make sure my make up is 110% on fleeeeek each day!

So I thought I'd do a little post on my tips and favourite products to ensure my make up is ready for whatever the weather may decide to do....

TIPS
Be skin ready! Since I worked for Liz Earle my skincare routine got absolutely upped to the max and the difference in my Skin over the last 3 months has been insane and I'd genuinely be happy to go out wearing no make up - anyone knows me know this would NEVER happen before. I take my skincare a lot more seriously now in the evenings and cleanse/tone/moisturise properly and use my eye cream and serum too! I even chuck in a face mask a couple of times a week too. I may have left but Liz Earle will always have my heart in terms of looking after my skin.

Drink Water! This sounds obvious and its something you're told most days to do but I've never drank as much water as I have in the last 6-8 weeks. Especially during the day at work now I'm in an environment with currently no air-con in 30+ degree heat. I must be drinking at least 2 litres each day and again this has helped my skin become the perfect make up base. It's much more hydrated ensuring make up will stay put for longer.

Do your Make Up research! Get on Pinterest, get on Instagram and head into a store and talk to those "tangerine girls" as my Dad calls them and get tips and advice. They're the best people to be talking to about your skin type, your skin needs and the make up to suit you to the best ability. Read up on products and find those suitable if you know you're skin type already and that way when the products suit your skin, they will last much longer and look so much better.

PRODUCTS:
NYX Professional Make Up Pore Filler Primer! THE ONE for oily skin and keeping your make up looking matte for longer and therefore keeping it in place throughout the day. I've used the Pore Filler Primer for as long as I can remember after I used to repeatedly spend £40 or whatever it was on the Smashbox one. For just £11 you really can't go wrong - even with combi skin, with this on your forehead and nose, you're ready to battle the sun and heat. You can even put another primer on your cheeks and chin area if you really wanted.

Setting Sprays  - of any kind really! Want a dewy finish, try a dewy one, matte finish? You know the drill. There are SO many out there so again, do your research and have a hunt around the beauty counters in Boots or Debenhams and see which takes your pick to suit your skin.

Eye Shadow Base! It's not just about your face base, it's the other areas that you're applying make up too, like you're eyelids. I've been loving the NYX Professional Make Up HD Shadow Base lately as not only does it help make up stay in place legit all day long, but it makes the shadow itself so much more pigments and just makes it stand out and blend perfectly.

Powder Compacts! Sounds like a Grandma thing to keep in your handbag but I've found having a powder foundation compact in my bag, ideally one with a sponge/mirror for on the go, is amazing and handy to top up your make up if and when you need to. Again it all depends on skin type but if you're like me and have generally quite oily skin you'll love the Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation compacts by.. you've guessed it - NYX Professional Make Up. It's handy and ideal for topping up between bars or on your lunch break.

These are my little make up tips and tricks and product recommendations or ensuring your make up stays looking bold and beautiful all day (or night!)! Especially throughout this unpredictable weather, it's definitely worth taking a few extra precautions. ;)
